From the couple next door to nationwide reality television stars, a Greer husband and wife are contestants on this season's "The Biggest Loser: Families" on NBC.

Phillip and Amy Parham are real estate agents said that they put on weight after their son was diagnosed with autism.

The Parhams said they would collapse in front of the television at night ... and eat for comfort.

"I have struggled with my weight my whole life, I think if I had something bad happen or something I didn't like I knew I could go home and eat, or drive through and get a cheeseburger and feel better," Phillip Parham said.

The couple spent more than a month in California earlier this year on a strict diet and exercising vigorously.

"No one can prepare you for the physical trauma to your body, working out so much all of a sudden," Phillip said.

The Parhams were among 300,000 people who applied to be part of the show this season.

They auditioned in Atlanta while on a Valentine's Day weekend getaway.

"I am looking forward to going to the pool and not worrying about how I look, or going out with friends (and not being) the fat friend with all these skinny friends," Amy said.

"The Biggest Loser: Families" can be seen Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on WYFF 4. The Parhams will show off their transformation on the Dec. 16 live finale.
